The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum goes way back to the 1860s with the first expedition to the region of two Bowdoin College graduates.
In an interview on News Center Maine, museum curator Genny LeMoine said, “You say, ‘the Arctic,’ and [people] think cold and dark and dangerous, almost uninhabitable—and none of those things are really true.”
With the recent move to a new building called “Black Iceberg” on campus, there is much to discover about the dynamic life in the Arctic.
“The collection includes thousands of items — photos, sleds, paintings, stuffed animals, maps, clothing, survival gear, and much more—all of which help to illuminate the Arctic’s past, present and future.”
To light the explorative collection, the 3W Spotlights were selected and used to showcase various textiles, photography, and learning materials on the expeditions inside and outside of cases.
