Cabinet des sciences Château de Chenonceau – Loire Valley, France – 2024

An extraordinary collection of furniture, tapestries, and paintings finds its place in the Château de Chenonceau. Its storied past reveals leading women who hosted and protected the beautiful Château throughout history. In the present, it has become a haven for art and history appreciation, recognized as one of the most frequently-visited private French Château.

The new permanent exhibition houses over 40 scientific instruments from Louis-Claude Dupin de Francueil, the eldest son of the owner of Château de Chenonceau.

A la Nouvelle République report says, “In a new space, a beautiful setting houses a collection of original and precious instruments, unique in its kind. The spirits of Louise Dupin and Jean-Jacques Rousseau hover there.”

The important pieces featured in the Science Cabinet illustrate the possibility “to use very diverse instruments, measuring instruments, experimentation instruments, and astronomy instruments in order to test new theories” even as early as the 18th century.

Luxam provided proper lighting to the important pieces that once belonged to a family of knowledge seekers through Fiber Optic Lighting and Focusing. The technology highlights the details, colors, textures, and organic differences of the instruments without the worry of heat and electricity entering the case.
